When creating a website, how important is it to have a .com? I mean, does it take away from someone clicking on high ranking site because it's a .biz or something?

I think it matters a little bit from a branding perspective. .com is easier to remember, and most people type that in as their default choice no matter how many times you tell them that you're at the .biz version....I don't think you'll lose click-through's because of it.

The new super mod guy is dead on (btw, hola)

One of the sites I run is a .org, and I'd hate to see how much type-in traffic I'm losing each month to people who type .com instead.

On the other side of things, take PokerNews.info for example...

The company running that site owns both the .com and the .info - yet they promote the .info

The site(s) that I have in mind would have no real return customer value to speak of, so the type in thing is not a real pressing issue.

On a side note, when going after specific keywords how important is it to have the keyword(s) in the TLD?
