Okay there have been some posts here as of lately about offline marketing. As many of you know, that is my specialty. I am getting much better at the online game thanks to this forum but let me share with you guys a few things about my recent successes offline.
Like any of you guys I hate placing cards in places or putting fliers on cars. Many have said that this doesn't work.............and you know what, it doesn't many times. But again it is a numbers game. Offline marketing is not for everyone, in fact for alot of guys on this forum there is no reason to go offline (you know who you are) SEO gurus, guys with huge sites, ect.
One thing I like to do is I pay high school kids to do the work for me. :P Call it unethical if you will, but these kids are making minimum wage as it is and love the opportunity to make more money, plus they feel important because they work for a dot com. (Good for their resume) I am simply paying these guys a decent wage $10 an hour on a weekend night for doing a job that I don't want to do. Plus again it is a weekend and not interfering with their school.
Luckily, I am doing alot more online but I still depend on some offline stuff to continue building my mgr. If you do choose to go the offline route there are some things to keep in mind. You need to promote something that is going to entice people's interest in your area. Whether it is your hometown or your University, promote in a way that would interest you. If you simply see a business card with a bonus code on it, would that interest you?
On the flipside if you see a private freeroll tournament with $50 added for The U of I Championship of Online Poker............ Which will spark your interest more. Likewise, if you brand yourself as the online poker guru to all your friends and people in your area do you think you'll get a better response? Do a press release in your area, write an editorial about the legality of online poker by the CEO of xxxxxxpoker.com. Do this in your local paper or Universities paper.
Whatever............. The thing is you can't think that just placing a simple business card or flier is going to get you a ton of business. Think like a marketer, what is going to spark folks interests. Whenever I start thinking of ideas, which I do quite often

I always ask myself, would I be interested, or What would the best marketer in the world think of this.
I know this is all just random thoughts by me, but if you want to be successful in the offline market you have to think outside the box and GET PEOPLE INTERESTED. No one cares about a basic flier with a bonus code.
Just some food for thought fellas. B)
