Party Poker in France

Lenny just told me this about Party Poker and their French (France) players. Did something happen in the last few days? If so I take it others will follow just like with the US?

Dear Affiliate,
With effect from 23rd February 2007, Partygaming will no longer accepts wagers from customers based in France. Customers resident in France or accessing our servers from France will no longer be able to access our real money gaming services. Customers will still be able to use the play money and any non-gambling services we may offer. They will also be able to cash out their present balance if they wish to.

Why would PP be scared of the french, if anything did happen like the french taking PP to court etc PP would have the backing of the EU in a EU court.

They had that announcement up on the affiliate site under updates yesterday , now its not there anymore , maybe they changed there mind

There was an article on PokerNews about how France would be following in the US footsteps to ban online gambling. That would be the obvious reason for Party Poker's move.

I read somewhere in a forum that some players from France couldnt make deposits so I guess it went through. Im sure Germany will be next on PP's list.
