Shrinking Deposit Options for Canadian Online Gamblers

Citadel Commerce just announced that they are pulling out of the Canadian gambling market.

This news comes just weeks after FirePay announced that they were going to ban all Canadian gambling transactions. Neither company cared to comment on why they pulled out of the Canadian gambling industry. The Canadian government hasn't cracked down on online gaming laws thus far.

Here is an email i received from Citadel Commerce.

Dear Citadel Checks Holder,

Citadel Commerce will cease processing any transactions from Canadian Consumers that may relate to online gambling. This change is effective: April 2, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. PST

All Canadian account holders of Citadel Checks will be able to continue using their account for: Any non-gambling sites.

If you have any questions regarding this notice, please contact Citadel Checks customer support at 1-877-747-8433.

I have also noticed this trend start to happen with Canadian processors, but have yet to hear anything as to the reason why. Maybe it is all based on speculation, or maybe there is something we haven't heard yet? Either way it's definetely not a good trend. One of my friends (in Canada) recently had an EFT returned by his bank from Neteller too, so not really sure what's going on.

I highly doubt Citadel is a popular payment processor for Canadians, but that is weird.

On a side note, why try and get Negative articles dugg... I would digg it if it were something positive, but lets try and keep the negative stuff to a minimum. No need to create any more worries than already exist.

...find another way of promoting your site.

Getting us to digg your negative (for the industry) article on a poker site is just wrong.

The article was written very poorly and wasn't worth Digging even to lend a hand.
