Default Continue with Poker.com?

I will be adding a full tilt review to my site in the near future, which will require the indivdual modification of each page.

Because of this and the recent changes with poker.com, would it be in my better interest to take down the poker.com site review links on each page as I add the full tilt links? This is to save myself time in the future if poker.com does stop accepting new players.

To help you understand the structure of the site, please visit http://www.thepokerbank.com
The links section I will be modifying is on the bottom left hand navigation bar.

If I understand you correctly whenever you change the navigation for one page you have to change them all by hand? Do you use dreamweaver? This can be solved by having a template that your pages are based on. That way when you need to change the navigation bar it will automatically updates every page that uses that template which saves a lot of time.

I use frontpage, but I also have dreamweaver. What you suggested sounds incredibly useful. Will I have to create a base template from scratch or can I use this procedure with my existing template and pages?

Sure, take your index page and under file menu click save as template and name it whatever you want. Now your going to want to take your table where you have all your main content and just click on one of the edges so it highlights the whole table. Once highlighted, go under insert and then template objects, then editable region. Basically, this step is giving you an editable region in your template. Name the editable region something like main. Then click save. Now you are ready to create a page from this template, simply go to file, then new, then click on templates on the top beside general, make sure your looking at the very top and not under general as that can get confusing since that has a html template option also. Now that your under the template menu, find your main template and hit create. You have just created a new page from your main template. You will see the editable region in the middle of the page where your main content goes, this is where you can put any content you want. Save the page accordingly.

Now the beauty of the template, lets say you wanted to add a Nake Poker Girls page in your left nav. You would simply open up your main template, put the new link there and when you hit save, it will automatically ask if you want to update all pages created from that template. Click yes and it will update all pages created from that template in one swoop. Then reupload the pages and your golden.

Also, just create a new editable region in your main template where ever you might want to put something that is subject to change, such as a banner.

hi,The Poker Bank.
Your site looks nice,A good job.And do you saved it as .html?Do you make your site One page after another or use the CMS?
I usually use Dreamweaver,And i only make my pages one by one.I think it is tired.Do you think so?
And if you use CMS,Which one do you use?
I saw someone buy CMS here,I am considering buying one, too.
Anyone has some ideas?
Thanks,
anyone926

Thanks for the post offyourface, it was very useful. I have followed the steps as in your post but I have come into a small problem. I have made a template with editable regions and created a new page from that site. However, whenever I edit the template's editable regions, it has no affect on the pages that are made from that template. I have onyl so far created one page as a tester for the template to see how things work. Hopefully these images will iullustrate my problem...

As you can see, dreamweaver asks me if I want to update the page that was created from this template.

But as the log shows, dreamweaver does not actually update this page, and I have no idea why.

Can you help me with this and highlight where I might be going wrong?

It seems to me that you might be a little confused about the editable regions. An editable region simply gives you a region which you can edit a page created from the main template. For example, lets assume you have already created your master template, and have 1 editable region called main. Now you are wanting to create 2 pages from the master template, one called reviews.html, and the other called bonuses.html. When you create each of these pages, the only place you can change the content is within the editable region called main. So in the reviews page, you would put whatever content inside the editable region that you want to go on the reviews page, and do the same to the bonuses page. But you make these changes on the pages themselves, and not in the master template.

So in short, when you want to put content on the page, you do so by opening the page you created from the master template and doing it inside the editable region, then resave the page. What I think you are doing is changing this content within the master template instead of on the individual page. Now if you changed something outside the editable region in the master template such as the left navigation, then when you hit save you will see it updates all pages created from that master template, but it has nothing to update if the only thing you changed on the master template is in the editable region.

It took me a while to really understand it too.
