I've been hearing from a bunch of ppl that search engines look at how long u have registered ur domain. So when they are about to rank ur site u get more pts on there ranking system based on the longer term of ur domain registration.

Is this true?

Yes, I am sure this is they also check how long a site is set to expire in. If a sites woth owning for 1 year and working on 30 hours a week its worth holding on to for 10 years. Buy domain for 10 years it helps in the rankings. I actually need to add a few more years on to my site.
