Default Using Forums for SEO

I asked this last week but the thread was deleted with the hackers and I never did get to see any replies..

If you have a site, www.mypokersite.com and you have a popular forum but it is an entirely different url, www.mypokerforum.com, how do you use the forum to better help your poker site in terms of SEO?

1. For instance, would it be better to combine the forum and integrate it with your site like: www.mypokersite.com/forum, thus adding new pages to your site with all the threads and having people link to individual threads?

2. Or would you use a linking strategy from the forum to your poker site to help it rank better?

What are the best strategies for this?

Thanks,
Mark

Either would work. In general if they are separate now, I'd leave them separate.

With no specific details, I would go with this too.

Vice versa you could "use a linking strategy" from mypokersite.com to mypokerforum.com and help both in the search engine rankings

Would it be advantageous to place a link back to mypokersite.com from every new page of your forum?
