My Yahoo directory listings have ALWAYS been worth it from a traffic perspective.

A few months ago Yahoo purged a bunch of listings for sites that link to online gambling sites. Some are still there, and it is a good value to be in there, but obviously it isn't a good value to get in and then get pulled a week or month later.

If you have a non-gambling site, definitely use Yahoo if you can, but with gambling unless you don't link to gambling sites, you take a risk of losing your $299 when they review the site.

Yeah i dont think id risk it to be honest with a poker site...

However, do you think i could get a poker forum in that doesn't have any links on its page to any online poker rooms?

Il admit a year ago i tried getting into Adsense and sent off my URL and it was declined... so the next time i sent off my Forum URL which is on the same domain and it was passed, i cant remember if i had any affiliate banners on the page at that time...

I regret ever geting listed in the yahoo directory. My site is set up to redirect to the no-www url, but they listed a url to the www version. As a result their algorithm is checking only the www version for popularity, which has 0 links, and as a result gets listed at the bottom of the last page, where it gets no traffic and little value.

I've tried getting them to fix this, but it's impossible to get through to them and they could probably care less about my problem to fix it.

There's a bunch of ways that $300/year can be better spent on your site then a listing in the yahoo directory.

Actually it looks like they removed my listing from the directory recently. No wonder my rankings have gone up in yahoo lately. While the site was in the directory they only listed the www version (that gets redirected to no-www) in their search engine with the crappy description the directory editor gave me. That was definitely killing my rankings. Yay i'm glad they removed my site

Since we are on this topic I have been looking at paid directories and gone through th eprocess of adding URL's and meta...all that.

Finally when it comes to the page to hit paypal in very small text slipped in between brackets it says Does not accept gambling links.

My question is does this mean that gambling sites are able to submit (as it does have a category for gambling) yet they wont be accepted?
