Default Affiliates - Let's talk about the delayed WSOP Final Table

Okay, I know there has been talk about this before in other threads. Likewise we have enough controversy here right now with rakeback discussions, but what the hell, let's open up another good discussion.

There are several opinions about this, but as affiliates please share your thoughts:

I like the delay idea, I just wish it wasn't 3 months long. If there happens to be a superstar or two at the final table, along with some personable amateurs who qualified online (with big boobs even better) then we should benefit from an affiliate perspective imo.

From a player perspective it blows.

It is stupid for the game. But like Brandon brought up on the radio show, it will be a dream for the players who make it to the final table and aren't already sponsored. And hopefully it brings more attention to Poker overall.

I think if you look at all sports the way they are displayed anymore (NBA playoffs, NFL, etc etc.) they are becoming more dramatic, with more playoff games, more entertainment, more stories formulated to increase the drama. It's almost as if they are making these things blockbuster movies or soap operas . Entertainment for the masses. It must be working in terms of generating money or else they probably wouldn't do it.

I think the same type of thing is happening here. An extra 4 months of "suspense" can only help bring in more money for all parties involved. I guess we will see though. Only time will tell if that is the case.

I think that 4 months is definitely excessive. I would think two weeks or a month at the most. There is just too much time in between.

The positives way out weight the negatives in my opinion, but poker Players love to complain about anything and everything and all change equals the end of the world. They're usually quick to shoot down ideas that might attract fish, then complain about the stream of fish drying up.

As a player I would hate it. Wouldn't want to spoil the mojo and dynamics that take place. Also, lets say some luckbox who is actually a bad player makes it to the final table, if you are a good player you would stand to benefit from his inexperience and lack of knowledge. Fast forward 4 months, If you took some of the best players in the world (think Full Tilt sponsored players), and could tutor a marginally bad luckbox, how much could they learn in 4 months?? Just doesn't seem fair from a players perspective.

As a promoter, I think it is a golden opportunity to increase the exposure of poker and will most likely be quite successful and certainly more lucrative for the final table players, sponsors and broadcasters.

It works against good players, who basically won't get meaningfully better in four months, and benefits lousy players a lot, who could spend the four months getting tutored by a few of the best players in the world. So it makes it even more likely a current unknown will win.

A delay has some merit. Four months is amazingly stupid. Imagine looking back at this 30 years from now. It's like traveling across country in a covered wagon.

At the same time, it will make us money, so, cool.

I don't want to push it toooo hard, but vegas will be taking bets on who wins etc right?

So, the mob has intimidated refs in basketball....football....baseball this has been exposed a few times. Everyone knows they have been involved in fixing fights in the past.....don't you think a prize pool of 20+ million dollars would really invite their harrasment/intimidation/attempt at fixing?

Outside of some concerns I've heard voiced about the players themselves working out some sort of collusion, I haven't heard anyone bring this up so I'm just genuinely curious if I'm living in Hollywood or if anyone else sees this as a distinct possibility.
