Default Inbound links

I'm a little confused, and could do with some clarification.

Having purchased inbound links over the last few months and also found links being posted to my site, I thought I'd run a google search this afternoon based on the 'link:' criteria.

I was hugely disappointed to find that very few of my inbound links showing up in Google. Only one of the links I'd purchased and none of the links I'd found elsewhere on the web seemed to appear.

Is this just something I have to be patient with? Do other affiliates find something similar?

Cheers,

Google doesn't report all your inbound links; they actually only show very few with the link: operator. Google webmaster tools will show many more if you use that. Yahoo site explorer shows a lot too; for example https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.co...&bwmo=d&bwmf=s shows more than 1800. Hope this helps.

I think searching for link:yoursite only lists PR4 or greater links (or some kind of PR rule). It certainly doesn't report them all. Not even close.

I dont think there would be a rule for PR and no rule for actual weight of the link or age of the link. Google shows what it shows when it decides to show them..mine flip flop between a few different ones every few weeks...only two have remained consistant..and yet they arent even near as strong as some of the other links I have.

Google will not see purchased links as valid backlinks if they have determined you paid for them - you may be de-ranked as a punishment.
