Default Google Suggests Integrated Into Search Bar

Folks,

I'm sure that everyone and their pet smurf has noticed that Google is now including offerings from Google Suggests on their homepage. This will definitely impact SEO.

Graham,

I typed in "bankroll" and noticed that bankroll boost was one of the top suggestions ! This will definitely trigger some new traffic for you because of the curiosity factor.

Sweet.

It's now integrated on the homepage of Google.com.

From Webpronews article:

"If you happen to rank for one of those Google Suggested queries get ready for a LOT more traffic"

Unfortunately what this will do is reduce the amount of long tail keyword queries.

Read about it in the article I linked, not sure if this is great because of that....

Here's an interesting analysis of the new Google suggest and implications for future SEO: SEO book

This will benefit the already strong and make it much more difficult to break into the market using long tail keywords. I don't like it.

This will put more pressure on poker affiliates to buy links to rank for big terms.

Could this be the death of the long tail as we know it?

Interesting development - personally happy to see the name of one of my sites is included in the lists also.

Tend to agree with one of the comments on the SEO Book article which pointed out that the majority of general searches are for 1 or 2 words... having 3 or 4 word suggestions would thus increase the reach of some sites for search traffic. At the very least we have a new free keyword suggestion tool!

Mind you, I would not personally click on anything Google suggested on principal... probably millions similar.

Cheers, Mark

It sure won't help long tail keywords.

It seems to be an option on just the home page of Google. I hope it stays that way.
