Default Evaluating Link Quality

Everyone here does some kind of link building, and one aspect of link building is evaluating link quality. Google PageRank is one way of evaluating link quality. What are other was of evaluating link quality?

If Google eliminated their PR display from the toolbar, how would you evaluate the quality of links from potential link partners?

1. Age of the domain
2. Number of pages indexed by Google/Yahoo
3. Number of outbound links on the specific page I want a link from
4. Language (I have sites in 7 different languages). A link from the same language is of course better
5. Check the ranking of the site in Google serps. If it ranks high for some keyword, the better it is.
6. Check to see if the page is build with a purpose of just selling links or doing linkexchanges

I don't use google page rank at all anymore. I still have toolbar installed but its set to do nothing but make google toolbar replace the standard firefox search all the other stuff has been hidden forever.

What I do use though is Sparky (alexa for firefox) and compete.com toolbars which display on bottom of browser opposite of status bar. I don't buy or exchange links anylonger but If I did I think I'd use something similar. Right now I have this here to just get a very rough gauge of the popularity of a site I'm getting information from because a good portion of my day is spent on researching.

PR is not important to me when deciding whether to link with someone, so if they removed the toolbar it would make no difference for me. So how do I define the quality of the link?

To me its the difficulty in obtaining the link. The more difficult it is to get a link from a "quality " site the more valuable that link is.

I really don't use PR much here since it's not that easy to get a good PR link anyway. I don't care too much about the traffic and Alexis really means how many webmasters come a calling including yourself.

What really matters to me is the quality of the page I'm on. I look at the whole page, how much content, and content is a pretty broad term and a lot broader than people think, how related the content is to my keywords in other words how many are there, including my anchor text, how many outbound links there are, the less the better of course, and so on. It's not the site so much as it's the page. On the other hand I've got links on some pretty horrible pages, link pages from hell with 3000 links one after another covering the whole page and a big scroll down and I'm not sorry or asking that it be removed although this doesn't help a heck of a lot. I'd never link to a page like that although a teenie bit of lovin is OK since all lovin is good lovin
