Default Great Google Blackhat Experiments

Does anyone have any "great Google blackhat experiments" they've completed? What did you learn?

What about "great Google whitehat experiments"? Did you learn anything from that experience?

Well, I've learned that having A LOT of "low quality" inbound links actually works. You can get better results than just trying to get quality links from a few high quality sites (which is also really difficult especially when you are starting a new site.)

In terms of white hat, it's really interesting that you can rank #1 on google quite easily for search terms that nobody is fighting for.

eg: it's hard to rank well for: "poker online"

it's easy to rank well for: "poker sites accepting us players 10 free"

ya it is i am getting a lot of google traffic now and nearly all of it is from terms like this that i unintentionally rank really well for.

but how to go about finding those terms is the hard part. adwords keyword tool is the answer to find out if people search stuff but there are SO MANY possible combinations!

Well you can start right there, if you rank on #3 for one of these long tail keywords, then you can optimize your page to make it go to #1

#1 spot will usually get at least 5 times more traffic as #3 ... so it might be worth it to optimize those odd keywords

To me, that's actually the easy part. Just write lots of pages on lots of different subjects, then check analytics to see what you're ranking for, then create more pages optimizing specifically for those phrases.

wow man, great idea. i actually get a lot of traffic now from a seemingly non-competitive term where i am one of the last people in the first page. i imagine i would get a lot more if i optimize it to get 1st-3rd

thanks

Going from page 2 to page 1 is an even better bump. Usually if someone drills down to the 2nd page for something, it means that the results on page 1 weren't very good.

Not blackhat, but I once ranked high for nearly every product Amazon sold in the sectors I set domains up for. I started with one domain on a certain subject. That was working so I went all in and got like 20 domains on different book nitches, tools, tvs, etc. I had number 1 rankings for a ton of products. You may have remember during a period of about a year where Google search rankings were littered with Amazon products. It was a major thing that caused Google to change their algorithm.

Shipped a ridiculous amount of products in a short time and under the Amazon program its hard to do. Nobody makes a living with Amazon. Its all incremental.

The point is, if something works, strike hard, strike fast, because it won't last. Same goes for poker or anything you do online.
