google page rank question

I was wondering when google will update pagerank's, and if I happen to get a page rank does that help my search engine placement?

1. Nobody knows precisely but it is supposed to take place once in every three months - the last one took place at the end of October so the next one should be quite soon.

2. PR does not help your SERP despite the factors improving your PR and your SERP being more or less the same (eg. link popularity).

3. PR of your site is updated on a daily basis, it's only the toolbar PR that we mortals see that is updated once every three months. So even if PR would affect your SERP you would never see a sudden SERP improvement.

I have heard many people say things about pagerank being updated daily. Why is it the websites dont get there links updated regularly? My website for example has many links pointing to it that have pr value yet it still registers 0 in google. Is that supposed to be updated every 3 months or am I missing something by having 0 links on google?

You shouldn't pay attention to the Google links result. It's extremely limited and won't give you an accurate portrayal of links coming into your site. Try MSN or Yahoo for that.
