Hey,
Just wondering why so many affiliates are interested in PR?

I don't see how PR itself is going to help their sites, the reason for PR though could help (I.e. higher PR sites linking to you will help in google because they have more weight with google) but I have seen affiliates looking to links just based on PR.

PR does matter for some sites (Like my webmaster forum and mainly my directory which is one of my main incomes since a lot of sites do have a reason for wanting high PR backlinks) but I can't see it helping an affiliate in any way.

Am I missing something

My websites pr has been fluctuating 0-2 while google is doing this BD update. It is not the little green bar that im worried about, it is the serps being affected by the updating. Older websites are not taking as big a hit from the updating, but it sure is hurting newer websites in the serps for sure. I dont care what pr my website gets after the update, but want to know so that I can gauge at what I need to do for my serps and future pr.

Cause it makes me feel like a MAN. Nothing can separate me from my PR, Budweiser and F150.

I want a good pagerank because so many people think good high rank = quality site, quality site = high page rank. If you're going to sell links, you'll have a lot more success with a crappy PR 6 site compared to a good PR 1 site.

PR is a factor in the ranking algorithm at Google. Higher PR will help affiliates rank better, leading to more sales and a bigger income.

People love to go around saying that PR doesn't matter, but it does. All the ranking factors matter, including PR, your page title, the use of your desired keyword text on the pages, etc.

Why wouldn't you be interested in PR. It's like saying you aren't interested in having your pages crawled, or aren't interested in having your pages rank for search terms. If it isn't a joke, why wouldn't you be interested in these things?

Of course every little bit helps, but the problem is that people are stressing over it to much. I've seen so many people say things like, "Accepting link exchanges from PR 4 sites and higher ONLY." If you're going to link to someone then link to a quality site that's relevant to your topic reguardless of their pagerank. Pagerank has very little to do with quality anymore because it's to easy to manipulate.
