Question Where do poker affiliate programs post their job openings?

I am looking to become a marketer for an online poker site or poker affiliate program. I'd like a change (currently I'm the head marketer for an IT consulting firm), like to get in on this emerging industry, and I have marketing ideas for online poker sites that I've yet to see any implement.

What I have done so far is send my resume unsolicited to a number of online poker sites and asking if they have a marketing job opening. The result of this effort has been one poker site being interested. Two weeks ago, I had a telelphone interview with one of the partners. Since then, I have sent three emails to both partners (a summation of the talk right after the call, one the following Monday, and one two days ago) plus yesterday I called down to the partner (who wasn't in) and left a message that I was doing a follow-up call with his office. But no second call since the first one two weeks ago nor any reply to any of the three emails I sent the partners since that first telephone conversation.

Additionally, after firing off that my resumes, I posted to rec.gaming.poker newsgroup and a few other online poker forums the basic question this post is about. I received a lot of helpful pointers to job sites where some online poker marketing jobs have been posted. I have fired off my resume to about twenty of them. No word back from any. Posters at these forums have also pointed me to other poker forums, such as one forum administrator pointing me to this one today.

Since posting to the newsgroup and online forums, I have had four poker sites read my posting and asked me to email them my resume. I have had telephone conversations with two of them.

What I would appreciate is any suggestions on what else I can do to land myself a marketing job with an online poker site or poker affiliate program. The desired job would be as their marketing strategist since that is my strongest suit.

Thanks in advance!

www.pentasia.com is what I have been using. I also am looking to move into this side of the industry.

Many of the sites have jobs or careers pages.

I just feel that is a perfect fit for my experience and industry knowledge. I recently graduated with a degree in Business Management (which was more marketing than anything else) and feel that I would have a lot to offer as an affiliate manager/ marketing director. I also feel that it is a great stepping stone to bigger and better things.

Tough market from my little bit of experience.

Most are totally clueless & too busy playing copycat catchup to even consider some "real" advice, let alone something original.

Good luck

That is such a good point. I have been very lucky to work along side Jeremy and learn from him. As we all know he is great at thinking outside the box. I would absolutly love to start with a brand new room and create their program from the ground up. Of course their are many other factors, but you get the gist of my goals.

I don't know of a market that isn't tough. If any market is easy, it won't be so for long.

Yes, I sense that from about half the poker site that have asked for my resume and done of telephone interview of me. However, all want to improve and all have said they know they need a professional marketer to do so. I haven't received much resistence from them when discussing new approaches.

Thanks. I have done several telepone interviews so far but, needless to say, none have translated into a firm job offer. I believe all but one telephone interview went extremely well but none of the poker sites I have been contacted by have gone past that initial telephone interview. However, interviewing with a number of companies before landing a job is normal and I have only been at this for about two weeks.
