Good Way To Upset Spammers

Just found this script that claims to put spambots in a loop when they hit your website. Not a bad idea, what do you guys think?

just as a side issue (dont want to jack your thread) ;-)

but how stressed out do you all get about spammers signing up to forums to put in url link to dross like duff p*rn links / vi*gra / dating etc ?

I've had a bit of a run of these and not sure whether to get designer to make "homepage" and "favourite poker site" in profiles dead for links and do same with sigs or just let the links sit there - are they harming my site ??

I'm sure its not just me but also getting alot more "poker affiliates" trying things on (they get banned or edited) and also "site promoters" bigging up their poker sites which I don't promote and have no interest in affiliating for ?

How hard do you guys come down on these employees of poker sites ??

Seems like a balancing act between forum members getting too "scared" to post anything with a link in and keeping tossers out or under control

Any suggestions ?

ps your link to site looks like a good idea for sorting spam email scrappers but wouldn't work for the spammers who will spend time signing up to forums etc

dunno about this but I have seen a site that loads a few 100k of fake e-mail addys on a website just to screw-up e-mail spambots so I wouldnt be too surprised if it works well

Also Adio, you seem to know what you are talking about when it comes to SEO. Would google not penalise you for having invisable links by using this system?

The system isn't hosted on MY site... its at themagic8ball.co.uk or whatever. So it wouldn't effect SEO rankings.

I have had it bookmarked for a while and thought about inserting the link on my pages....think a no follow for googlebot and the like would be appropriate or uneccesary?

Ya thats a good page too. No need for the nofollow tag though, unless you really want to. Google doesn't follow the email addresses as its not a spam bot. Not to mention that G has already been there (look at the PR of that page).
