I played in my first live tourney today and I just wanted my play to be critiqued. It was a 3k free roll tourney with 110 players (was supposed to be 60 player limit, which is why i even bothered going). Anyway, it was horrible, blinds went up every 10 mn, and blinds doubled. I don't know how its supposed to work, but compared to online tourneys this is insane.
Ok now to the part of critiquing my play. Blinds are 150-300, there is one caller in mid position, i look down at K 10s on button and limp in (had 900 in my hand), sb goes all in. everyone folds and i call. He turns over AA and I turn over K 10. He looks at me like i'm crazy. But lucky me I flop K K. Bad call? or a must call?(lets keep in mind that i saw lotta people treating A rag like gold).
Later on, i'm sittin on about 5k. blinds are about 200-400. When I am BB button raises all in(button is
chip leader). I'm see crap cards. He does this again next time, still crap cards, and the next time when blinds are 400-800. So that's 3 times in a row. When I say crap cards, I mean 2 6, 10 4, and i forget the last one. Am I supposed to be calling and taking a gamble? Let me just note that every all in that he has made which was called, he turned over very legit hands, AK once and AJ the other. Am i supposed to call with these rags and gamble?
Also, in between getting bullied, i sit on probably 3-4k. UTG jumps all in with about 2500. I am next to act and am holding 33. Should I be going all in here? I ended up folding since there were so many other people acting after me.
Looking back, I probably should have been more aggressive since the blinds were moving up so quickly. However, I just never played in a tourney like this and really didn't know what to do. Let me know what you think. Sorry for the long post. I placed around 14th by the way, not too bad for my first live tourney i guess.
