Default The purpose of this forum - Please read before posting

This is the "General Poker Chat" forum. The purpose of this section of the site is to discuss the game of poker from a player's perspective rather than from an affiliate's perspective. This forum was NOT meant to be a trading post/swap shop section.

But the last 25 or so threads that have been started in this section were related to transferring money from one account to another.

Many of these posts were made by people who have never participated in a single poker affiliate discussion or a poker playing discussion; their sole contributions have been requests to conduct transactions of some sort.

Moving forward, forum members whose only activity here is to advertise/trade money/sell services etc. will be moderated. If the only 3 posts you've made here involve trading "Pstars for P**pal), we'll delete those threads and posts at our discretion.

We're not saying that you can't post these types of things here. But try participating and being a member of the community first please.

Perhaps it'd be in the better interest of the forum if a trading/swap forum were added as a sub-forum to remove posts of that nature from this area, and possibly rename this forum board "Poker Discussion"

The name General Poker Chat really makes it more of an open discussion board about anything and everything poker related with no real guidelines as per the general content guidelines of this board.

Just my two cents.

Welcome Randy
I do agree to a certain extend, but 99% of the members are smart enough not to do business with people they dont trust or dont know.
I am one of the people that have asked for transfers.
A lot of affiliates do know me so that makes a difference maybe, but if they did not know or trust me they would not do business with me i guess.

I also agree that maybe we/you could start a different subforum for these things??? They are a vital part of a forum i think.
This has been brought up before though
Vince

I would love just a megathread for transfers as there is many threads for them these days, and a bit frustrating trying to weed through them all when I click "View New Posts".

I think a megathread would be handy I bump my own thread when I'm trading, and then look for everyone elses thread, try to PM one guy, then go back to where I was in the list of others looking to trade..

I think that idea would be beneficial on both ends.

I also use 'new posts' so i do know whatchya mean

I agree it would be great to have a dedicated place for this. It is hard and expensive to get amounts under 1k off of most poker sites, so for me its a great way to avoid huge fees and delays..

Maybe we can restrict it to approved members or members with x number of posts.. Also, maybe adding the "good karma" type plugin would help here like on CAP

Regardless of whether it's called "Poker Discussion" or "General Poker Chat", the forum isn't here to be a free-for-all trading post. And since I added a sticky thread to the top of the forum clarifying what the purpose is, it's even clearer what the point of the forum is.

My post was directed at people who don't participate in the forum for any other reason than to trade money or sell goods to other affiliates. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear. People like Ridge, LadyHoldem, DealerDan, they all participate here on a regular basis as poker affiliates discussing the poker industry.

The people who are here JUST to swap money are't contributing to the community, so I'm advising them to start contributing or go away.

Shouldn't be a big deal.

I disagree that money-swapping threads are a "vital part of the forum". The forum (PAP as a whole) is a poker affiliate forum - it's here to provide a place to discuss affiliate issues. Sometimes that includes conducting some business. But when the number of threads about swapping money outnumber the threads actually discussing the industry by a factor of ten or so, something is out of whack.

This is probably a market opportunity for someone who might want to run an "online poker chip swap shop" site.

But countless threads from members who don't participate in any way here other than to trade money doesn't benefit the community. It does the opposite.

So this site is only to be used as a site to discuss poker affiliate related topics? Pretty sure I didn't see that when I registered. I was under the assumption that this forum/site was open for discussion and participation of whatever we needed it for as long as it remained related to the boards we were posting on.

I mean, if this is the attitude that the staff here want to reflect; that those of us who come here to use this as a resource and/or place to buy or sell goods are just useless to the community, then I really don't know what to think of this site anymore.

Edit: btw, not meaning to sound like a dick, just the way this ended up being phrased. Gotta love typing on the fly.
