Whew.

Tonight I was playing at a Cherokee Casino in West Siloam Springs, OK. It's only 40 minutes from here in Fayetteville, AR, which is the closest casino. It beats the hell out of driving 4 1/2 hours to Kansas City. Anyways, I was playing with a buddy in a $4/$8 game when I witnessed my first bad beat jackpot in person. I wasn't actually involved. The final board was:

JJQQ4

One player held JJ, one player held QQ. .....guy with JJ said "I got 4 Jacks, can you beat that!?" The guy with QQ said "Yep" and threw them down and the place went nuts. It was a very small pot....the hand was heads up the entire time and both players were trying to slow play the hell out of each other. Neither of them were thinking about the jackpot until they turned their hands over.

The bad beat requirements were 4 of a kind beat, in a limit game. The jackpot was up to $80,000. The 23 year old kid (who was also a dealer) on my right held the JJ and ended up with a cool $32,000. The guy with QQ ended up with $20,000.....the remaining 7 of us at the table ended up with $1700 a piece and every other poker player in the poker room ended up with $130 a piece.

Was going hoping to win a hundred or so and my buddy and I both walked away with $1700 a pop. We only got to play for 30 minutes or so....it took a good 2 hours to figure out all of the paper work, camera checking, card checking, etc. First time a bad beat had been hit in this casino (slightly newer casino)....Anyways, good times. Everyone at our table tipped the dealer $40-$50 a piece.....the QQ guy tipped him $200, and we didn't have time to see what the big winner tipped him, but everyone seemed to make it out ok. It was interesting to see $32,000 counted down in hundreds on the table in front of you, for the guy NEXT to you. I realize that $32,000 is a joke for some of you super affiliates, but it looked like a piece of heaven to me.

We had two first time players who had just come off of the learn to play for free table that didn't know WHAT was going on....I told them poker wasn't ALWAYS this easy. =)
