I recently acquired this domain and hope to develop it within the next year.
Right now I'm still occupied with the continued growth of RakeReport.net
The problems with RakeReport.net are twofold:
1. The domain name is not ideal for SEO (and even if it had "rakeback" in the title, that term is not heavily searched)
2. My past association with Degen and sometimes spammy approach to developing the site (which is my first attempt at running a site ever) has made it difficult to work with some other sites or individuals who view me negatively.
I've learned a lot over the past year that I've taken this site and built it up. We have a nicer design for the main pages, I figured out how to upgrade the forums and have built a tight-nit community of members.
Right now I wear all the hats, web marketing, business development, community building, web design, etc.
It's sometimes difficult because I'm versed in many areas, but not a master in any of them.
I think PokerNations.net could be a great domain to build and challenge for some of the more heavily searched terms:
poker (343,000 searches last month)
online poker (107,000 searches)
poker chips (52,000 searches)
full tilt poker (47,000 searches)
poker table (44,000 searches)
party poker (40,000 searches)
I'm looking for a group of like-minded individuals who see the value in this domain name.
You should have something to offer this partnership, including any of the following
-a passion for the poker industry
-experience with SEO/Web Marketing
-experience with web & forum design
-ability to provide financial backing for project
-experience with community building
-experience with content creation or business development
Individuals should be interested in white-hat approaches only. My predecessor for RakeReport.net was extremely black hat, and I know I've been gray hat in some aspects.
The world of poker has taken enough negative hits lately, I want to build something that is respectable and useful. Another piece of the puzzle is I'm not exactly sure on the direction/focus I want for PokerNations.net I haven't really nailed down a mission statement.
I know there are members of the industry who dislike me for my prior association with Degen, or my approaches to developing the site. While I don't think I'm anywhere near the shady approaches he utilized, I do understand that I have come across as spammy in my year growing RakeReport.net and some of my actions have been questionable.
If I could turn back time and never have associated with Degen, and not gone down the path I did, I would love that. But I can't change the past. I've made mistakes, and please remember that this was my first attempt at entering the poker website industry. I'd like the opportunity to earn the respect of the members who may not care for me.
Please remember that I have been open and honest about everything I've done with RakeReport.net. I was the one who set up the site for quantification via Quantcast. I didn't attempt to hide that I used donkeymails to deliver traffic to the site. Their Quantcast showed many of their members favored sites like
888.com and I have received good results for the price on the traffic that I purchased.
I also could have kept hidden that I owned PokerNations.net when I began developing it, and instead use a fake name/persona, hide behind a corporatations or partners name, etc. I haven't done any of that. I openly admit what I'm doing and why.
The same was the case for tying many of our promotions into the sites Alexa ranking. Again, I'm still new to the industry and was doing what I could to make the site a success.
I have been able to bring in 4-6K in revenue/month with RakeReport.net Not bad considering I'm doing this alone, had no prior experience in this sort of thing and had to clear the hurdles of the stuff that went down with Degen and the general mistrust of many people in that regard.
If you only have some negative and snide remark or attack to make, please don't bother posting it. I'm not here to get into a pissing contest with anyone, I'm here to develop a new business that I believe has great potential.
I already have lots of ideas, but I'd really like to put together a group of people who can focus on specific areas of the sites development and growth, and share in it's profit as well.
I'm not sure what would be best, I'm assuming something like a Limited Liability Corporation. The whole structure of the organization needs to be worked out, duties, profit sharing, goals, etc.
So anyway, if this is something that interests you, please feel free to post here, pm me or email
aj@rakereport.net with your ideas.
This is extremely early in the planning stages, so expect things to progress slowly initially.
