Ok, I bought a URL about 6 months ago.

I just recieved an email where someone wishes to purchase the name. It is a poker related name, and I am using the name, but not actively. I also know that the person/company that wishes to purchase the name will actually be using the name in advertising.

I've done some research on sells of names and they tend to vary from $100 to $5000 (and up... but I am trying to be realistic).

I also know that said company does fairly well in $$.

Question is, what is a reasonable way to figure value. Also, is it too much to just ask for a sort of royalty for the use of the name?

What would any of you do differently with the sale?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Almost all domain names have next to no value. If a person is buying a name, but not your current content, they want it for some personal-ish reason. There is no way to value that in general.

Do not waste your money trying to get an appraisal. They are all worthless. It is impossible to determine the market value of a domain like that. I would recommend that you have them give you the first offer and then you can counter offer. Like Randy said, whoever offers first loses.
