Default Need someone to help me with server

I just got a VPS and am trying to get this thing going, but when I add the nameservers at godaddy i get a message that says
'errors were detected'. I really have no clue what to do as far as setting up the domains I want hosted on this thing as I am used to shared hosting where I just put in the nameservers and it's good to go. If anyone can help me it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Do you have a control panel on your VPS like cpanel?

If you have cpanel I know you just need to assign IPs to nameservers and add them in cpanel as well.

Yeah, in WHM you'll have a Nameserver IPs link. If you go to that page you then create two nameservers, e.g. ns1.yourserver.com and ns2.yourserver.com

When you add them each nameserver will be assigned an IP and then you add that to the domain in godaddy control panel.

I believe it has to be something.domain.com

Most nameservers are usually ns1 and ns2.

Ok so here is what I have done so far...

Added the account for the first domain I plan to add. I then received an email stating that this was now active and in this email it listed two nameservers. which were ns1.hostingcompany.com and ns2.hostingcompany.com. I thought that all I needed to do was to switch the nameservers at godaddy and that would be the end of it.

I added the two nameservers from the email to the add nameserver server ip thing and then tried to change the nameservers at godaddy and am still getting an error.

Oh, I misread your topic. I was guiding you on how to setup custom nameservers, but you can just use them ones as well. Delete the nameservers you made in WHM.

What error are you getting in the godaddy control panel?

when I type the nameservers it just says "errors were detected" which is why I thought I would have to set up the nameservers or something along those lines

Best bet is to email godaddy and tell them the nameservers you want to assign to the domain.
