I could see a way of this working though, is if you generated alot of links to it. For example, you can only post to the site if you have a hardlink going to that site etc. But in essence your just creating one massive link farm then, which is not so whitehat.

I can see your point to it, and I think depending on the quality of content he accepts he could also receive plenty of one way links via whereever.

* Jess - just a suggestion but thinking about what Andy is saying you may want to limit the number of links in an article to 1 every 500 words. You get someone like myself who normally writes minimal of 800 - 1000 words for most subjects and your looking at minimal 4 OBL, in most cases to the same site. A) to a visitor it could look like to many B) It would probably hold more value to the site being linked to a couple of times rather then 4 or 5 times. I think the homepage link is a good way to go, I would go with the actual domain name and not keywords for that one. Just a thought

Yeah i know i have absolutely no links pointing into my site. That doesnt mean my site doesnt have "potential" but what is potential anyway, just some words.

I wasnt really referring to you, or calling you out , just making a statement. I remember when Greg started his poker strategy site, only a few articles but it had potential...now that site completely rocks and kicks most other strategy sites in the ass.

Obviously it would be a bad idea to have a lot of outbound links without also focusing on generating inbound links. That's not what will be happening. Actually, it doesn't take too much thought to figure out how to generate lots of inbound links for this site, but I'd rather not come out and say it publicly (yet). As soon as the first 100 articles have been posted, certain things will happen in order to generate lots of quality, inbound links. In fact, Jeremy and I have already had a brief talk about this. We're all on the same page here Andy.

Beyond what Jeremy and I've spoken about I have some other things I'll be doing as well that will also be adding more and more value as it goes. Nothing happens overnight, but there will be new features and tools on the site very, very soon too.

I'm not going to talk too much about the SEO strategy yet, but in regards to aff's there will be a section matching aff's with poker writers, a section for posting videos (for those of you who create your own), a fully automated system for posting and paying (for approved writers), and a few other things I want to keep to myself at this point.

I will also be offering a number of promotions to writers for certain types of content, and bonuses for writing X number of articles etc..

For players, there will be various poker tools and fancier RSS feeds.

The first step is getting some great content on there. Once that happens, everything else will soon follow.

Well, I'm totally, 100% open to discussing this. The site absolutely needs to generate the best value for aff's as possible, so whatever that takes is what I want to do. How does this sound?...

1 in 500 sounds a little high to me, but 1 in 400 sounds decent. That way an 800 word article can generate 2 links, plus the 'Written By' link. If I require 1000 words for 2 content links I'm concerned that writers will look at this as too much work. There needs to be a balance between value and what writers are actually willing to write. The Written By link is always going to direct to the writers homepage using their domain name. I think that's a no-brainer, wouldn't you agree? Then, if someone wants to add one content link directed to their homepage and one to a deeplink or poker room they can do it with 800-1199 words.

Does that sound like a good balance? If anyone would like to state their opinion I'd love to hear it.

i wouldnt buy ppc for this site though. You will be wasting you 100 or so visitors your buying. Quality content and building an authority site should be your main priority. Theres alot of potential here if this is done right.

The value for the affiliate will be the following:

1) having the articles rank highly directly from your site.
2) Driving traffic from the ranked pages to affiliates website
3) Seo value of links from your homepage / article pages

Id be willing to contribute to it for sure. A system of fairness would need to be implemented thought because things like this are inevitably tried to be gamed by affiliates.

Great looking site and a killer idea Jess. I think it has a lot of potential and may offer affiliates a great way to drive traffic and get inbound links. Will for sure submit some articles soon. Good luck with the project

I recently submitted 3-4 articles to rsspoker and Jess went through each one and fixed the mistakes and added a lot to each article. I didn't write these articles myself, they were the $20 type articles that I ordered to keep several sites fresh. I am just simply amazed by the level of commitment Jess has to rsspoker and I am 100% certain that it will be a huge success. With all the risks these days that come with buying links for seo purposes I think rsspoker is the perfect alternative to acquiring quality links. Two thumbs up Jess!

I can't speak for Jess but I'm sure he just cut me some slack because it was my first time posting an article on his site. Please submit high quality content and everyone will be a winner.
