Can changing your tags to often have an adverse effect? I know it's trial and error but if it's done to many times within a short time frame can it have serious effect within Google?

I have been playing about with title tags recently and have found no adverse effect. That would depend however on what 'changes' you make. But changing a few times in a month doesn't get you a penalty if thats what you mean, or maybe I have just been lucky.

It depends on how often Google visits your site. Check out you stats in Google webmaster tools.

You can change them a million time and if Google visits on the last time they will only think they changed once.

Changing Title tags can have an adverse affect on your rankings if you are not careful about where you rank for the keywords in your title tag.

If you know where you rank for a certain keyword and change it to benefit this keyword then you're ok. But if you have no idea you rank high for the ketwords in you title tags and go and change them, you will now loose out.

That's why it's so importan to know ALL the keywords people are using to reach your site and where you are in that search engine.
