Default Does 'G' give more weight to shorter title tags?

If I'm targeting a phrase like "party poker bonus code" is it better to make that my title tag for that page, or have multiple related phrases? I see a lot of sights that have longer titles like "Get the latest party poker bonus code | Partypoker.com bonus and review".

Does anyone know if Google gives more credit or weight to a shorter title?

Nobody really knows these answers, we can only make theories that are probably way off and who knows if anything is consistent?

This is true, only theories.

If I were google, I would probably value the shortest title a little higher, but not much.

Yes it does.

Keywords are rated and ranked according to their position (closest to the front) and also according to their density.

So if you have a short title and only a few related keyword thern google can be pretty sure that your page is about "Party Poker Bonus".

Of course that's only a small part of the battle. Then you need :
- good content with the magic mix of keyword density.
- good links with good anchor text to that page
- some site authority on this subject ...

But in general I agree with Kaus ... "Keep things short sweet and straight to the point." ... as this will mean that it ranks as well as it can for these words.

(whether that's enough for your site to be in the top 10 is a whole different matter - but you've given it your best shot).

But that's just my opinion ...

I think if its a page you're going to just "set it and forget it" it's best to use short, and exact keywords as you'll just dilute the power of the keywords as you add more words in the title.

If its something you're going to be optimizing, purchasing links, etc, I'd use longer more descriptive title tags to help with conversions and keep from looking like you're link spamming.
