Default Google sitemaps

How many of you submit your sitemaps to Google? I have a sitemap on my site, but have never created a xml one and submitted it. I know there are sites that can create these type of sitemaps easy. Anyone recommend any? Also, am I supposed to "ping" google everytime I update my site?

http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ is a great one. Google will download this from you regularly, so all you need to do is update the current one to include any new pages or updates.

I use them. They'll help you get indexed much faster as a new site.

If you happen to use Wordpress, there's a great plugin you can use that will automatically update the sitemap and submit it every time you add a new page or post.

Well, my sites aren't new. Could this still be helpful? Also, anyone want to explain pinging google?

The sitemap generated includes the forum.
What if I already have one generated daily by VBSEO (for the forum)?
Should I generate one for whole site with xml-sitemaps.com and just edit/cut the forum links in it?

Cheers

I have problem to publish xml sitemaps. We use the Antenna web design program (easy to use), but I can not find how to get a xml sitemap up.

Anyone that knows how to do this?

Maybe it does not help if everything is indexed, but it would not hurt you...

JBlixt - You can always upload it yourself either through ftp or if your host supplies one. Just make sure you put it in the root and your good to go,

Also just to note the xml site is great..I like their broken link checker but that program does skip over files when you have a bigger site.

I use phpsitemapng everytime I make a change or an addition/deletion I then resubmit to google. It generally gets crawled within a few minutes. You can check it out at http://enarion.net/google/phpsitemapng/ Best thing is there is no cost for this, just a download and unpack it then uplaod to a directiory. Makes a map in short order.

Default Question

Hey,

Decided to tag along this thread instead of creating another one about the same topic. I have followed the advice about creating an XML sitemap and had it created at xml-sitemaps.com. I submitted the sitemap to google yesterday, and checked the status of it and it said "warnings". Here was what the warning was.

All the URLs in your Sitemap have the same priority.
All the URLs in your Sitemap are set to the same priority (not the default priority). Priority indicates the importance of a particular URL relative to other URLs on your site, and doesn't impact your site's performance in search results. If all URLs have the same priority, Google can't tell which are more important.

Was wondering what I need to do to fix it? My site is new so take it with a grain of salt, thanks!
