Default 2 big SEO questions...

For a site Im working on now, we have a bit of a situation and not sure how it will play out in the SERPS....

1. So let's say as an example we have a section called "Dumbbell exercises" It has videos and descriptions of like 15 different exercises. Its a great resource for people looking for dumbbell workouts.

Now lets say we write an article on " The 7 best Dumbbell exercises for weight loss" Lets say we get a bunch of links to it and it ranks well.

Should we go this route, or should we focus on one of them, and try to get all of the links to the page? or should we do both and try and get a double listing in Google???

2. The keywords for the homepage that I want to target are also keywords that i want to target on other pages. So lets say I want to target weight loss, and do a big page on weight loss with all kinds of information, would I be better leaving weight loss out of the title tags on the homepage and just focusing it all on the weight loss page that we actually want to rank? Is there a problem with targeting the same keywords on the homepage, as well as on the main content page that we want to rank????

Any help would be appreciated...

- Justin

One thing you could do for both situations is to try to get that double listing that you often see sites having in Google. To do that, make sure the pages are about similar topics, but have noticeably different content, title, and description. Then, get links to them both, but focusing on the one that is more important.

If you get enough links to the main page, as well as a few to the secondary page, you should get that great double listing.

I get double listings on one of my sites - I did it by buying a related pr3 site and placing it under the the new site as just another branch of the main site

For whatever reason now , it doesn't mattter if the search is related to the older site or not - I always get double listing

Go for both IMO... don't see what the drawbacks of that are.

As for the homepage... again, id probably try and get both pages to rank.

I have read somewhere that the keywords for each page have to be similar, but arranged differently. For example, if you were targetting "Hot body" on one page, you could switch things around on the second page to "making your body hot". In addition to your external links, these pages should link to each other.

That's what I got anyway. Not sure how accurate that info was.
