using same img on several sites - good or bad

hi all

this is probably a really dumb question - I'm trying to gain any "good" SEO from this purely trying to avoid any "bad" SEO

I'm putting up some new small non linked other niche sites - I may link them relevantly at some point but I dont want to do this un-naturally or too quickly

but in trying to get new sites up asap I've used the img / screenshots in the reviews from one of my main sites also on all of the new micro sites ...

my question is this ...

does drawing the img files / linking to them to source the image files have a negative effect on either new sites or the old established site ?

AFAIKS this isnt any different to using an affiliate banner sourced from a poker room and changing the link to go to the review of that room internally to the review ... but I'm not so sure if its bad seo or not ?

I'm not trying to gain anything for the main site - but dont want to fall fowl of google etc if thats the way it would look to them

Is it ok to do this (saving putting up a load of the images on all the sites to source internally) - or should I make copies of the images and host them on each poker sites internally ??

Don't worry about it, spiders can't read the content on the image and therefore they have no effect on SEO.

I think you're asking if you host the image on your 'main site' and essentially just serve it up on all of the niche sites will it harm you in any way?

I don't have an answer for you on this one Scrawny but I would guess that it is safer to host them at the individual site level although I have used images from a main site to display images on other sites before with no major ill effects that I'm aware of. Again could be wrong and interested if anyone knows more as well.

Site level hosting for shore .

1 reason is so that your new sites don't appear to be knock offs of your old site, another is that each link to an image is an outgoing link.
