Nofollow in affiliate link

Hi. Will the players still be tracked, even though you make the link a Nofollow link?

Yes they will. It's very smart to nofollow all of your outbound affiliate links. You are already sending them players; no need to send them linkjuice too.

I know it is just speculation but I've heard before that some people think google judges your site differently if you're using nofollows because it tells them you are SEO savvy and might be trying to manipulate the rankings.

Anyone have any insight?

If that's the case then it must make Google like you more. I use nofollow all over the place and have some pretty good rankings. The art of using nofollow is an important tool imho.

I looked more into it, and I'm convinced. No longer will i be throwing out link juice to the undeserving casinos!

Yes I wish I found out about the NO FOLLOW code a bit earlier, I have only managed to do hald my website with various links I have left through out my blogs.

I am thinking of leaving Affiliate Links as NO FOLLOW but leave comments, reviews, forum signatures, Directory & Article submissions as FOLLOW, just to benefit other poker webmasters for the info exchange.

I am lucky with my Joomla site that it has a plugin already for change links without having to revert to HTML.

What is the correct method of using the NOFOLLOW?

You can also use Redirect.

I use simple redirect script and links on site looks like http://mydomain.com/redir.php?affiliate_link

Using redirect scripti you can also track users going to pokerRooms. It's very usefull for rooms that don't track Clicks (like FullTilt and PokerStars. )

I would recommend the nofollow in the link and if using Google Analytics you can set it up to track the outbound links.
