Redirecting a link to help goolge PR

I read in a few places that if you are doing a link exchange, google will cancel it out as if you don't have a link at the other site. What if I have a link to AAA.com that really takes you to a part of my site that doesnt allow search engines, which then auto forwards you to AAA.com? Will google know?

Is the system beatable?

The idea that reciprocal links are ignored is a myth. Frankly, if you're linking to a good quality resource that's on-theme and helpful to your users, it will help your rankings, not hurt them.

It's been my experience that most people who are trying to "beat" the system haven't tried to work within the system to be successful yet.

To be successful in Google, write great content, use clean code, and tell people about it and get people to link to it.

Thanks for the help - i'm new to this. My old room mate who has a pretty good pop culture site put a link to my site in his links section. He said that when I open it (on november 1'st) he'll write about my site on his front page. To return the favor i'm going to put his 120X60 banner on my 'sponsors' sidebar. I guess it will be fine.
