When to Submit

More for the new guys, since I have yet to submit my newest site. Been working on it for about 2 or 3 months now. Primary I have been doing a design, running it on the PPC's.

I have always had the issue of when do you submit your site to the SE's?

My thought has always been and still is, when the site is 85% to 100% done. The problem is that it takes forever to get the site done. AND it takes forever to listed and ranked.

But my thinking was if the sites was not done, then your rank was going to low anyway.

Any thoughts of this?

You should never submit your sites to the search engines. When it's live, get someone who has a website already listed in the search engine to link to you. The search engines will find you on their own from that link.

Randy is right - don't bother about submitting - get some good inbound links. However you shouldn't wait till your site is 100% complete - the SEs won't know that and it's better to be indexed sooner rather than later. Nowadays the time you spent in SEs indexes directly affects your SE performance. And the links are like wine too - the older the better.

Yeah I did a search last night and I am already indexed. The bad thing is I had a temp page up, so they got that instead. But oh well. I'm almost done with the home page and it should be back up today. So I'll just wait until the next time they come by.

So what's the story with Google's Sitemap submission?
