I was just adding some content to my site and was wondering if there was a rate at which to add content that was favorable to SE's?

I have heard the idea of 1 page per day kicked around here and there and was wondering if this was about right?

The reason I ask is this. I have about 10 pages of content to put up yet. Does it matter if I put it all up now, or should I put it up a little at a time?

Oh yea, if anyone wants to do any critiqueing i'm always open for comments.

I don't think ten at one time will hurt you. The sites (scrapers) who add 500 at one time that google tries topunish. I think you should try to be fairly consistent in that if you add content regularly, you should add roughly the same number of pages every week.

If it is regular pages google won't care - unless you have a high PR site google will only find the new sites like once a week - so if you upload one every day, or 10 at once doesn't make a difference. IMO
The one page/day update is a way to get google to come back to your site more frequent. If google finds new pages every time it droppes by it is more likely to spider your site frequently. Another way to trigger this effect is to add automated dynamic content - could be our feed, or a newsfeed, so google will always find new content

BTW never heard that adding a lot of pages could trigger a filter....

Best of luck

I think he is talking about adding an RSS feed to your site.

I have been thinking about doing that, but am still trying to decide if I am going to start an RSS feed of my own in conjunction with a blog.

I have heard that it is good to get your own RSS feed going and then have other sites pick it up. THis true?

Thanks,

To your original question: Personally, unless it's over 40 pages, I always put everything up at once so it's a complete site. However, if you've got 150 pages, you may benefit traffic-wise to put 40-50 on and then 1 a day until you run out of content.

As for putting someone else's RSS on your site, I can attest that this does, indeed, help with getting Google and other spiders to come crawling back every day. I'm currently getting spidered 1-3 times a day from Google, and various amounts from Inktomi, Lycos, MSN, etc.

And yes, having your own RSS feed is even better, though it's more work. The benefit of having other webmasters use it on their website is that it feeds you PR (assuming they use PHP and not JavaScript or something SE's won't pick up on) and it feeds you traffic when someone clicks on the link to the full article. The only danger is possible duplicate content issues, but nobody can confirm/deny that for sure.

Hi, Just follow the link in my signature - quite easy. I cannot remember an URL for a poker news feed...but maybe others can help you out?
