THERE SEEMS TO BE ALOT OF REQUIREMENTS:
Please Note: Creation of your account did not automatically place you into any Ring. You must apply to join each Ring you are interested in. The RingMaster will review your site and take action accordingly. Also, until you do apply to a Ring you will not have access to any "navigation code" to place on your website, so don't worry about needing to do that before joining a Ring: In this case you do appear to put the cart before the horse!

Once you do apply to your very first Ring then please take a moment to visit the My Rings link (You'll see this link at the top of any WebRing page when you're logged into your account). There you will have access to links that allow you edit site information, contact the RingMaster if you have questions, get Navigation Code, and more.

You can customize your account using the "Account Settings" link at the top of every page when you are logged in. Here you can create a profile message (contributing members can create a complete webpage - so you can even use that URL to apply to Rings with), a "public" contact email address (if you wish to make public any email address), establish adult, email notification and ad suppression settings.

Most future correspondence from WebRing will come through your WebRing "mail" account (we call it WRMail). You'll see a link to your WRMail account and settings screen on your My Rings page. When you receive new WebRing correspondence it will go there and you'll also see a notification icon on many WebRing pages. If you don't check in with WebRing frequently don't worry, your account is configured to send a little notice to the email account you registered with if WebRing mail goes unread for long. You can change these settings as you see fit.

The WebRing ID you just created is free. However, WebRing relies greatly on member support to keep operating, and we offer supporting members additioanl features in return for their support. Please consider supporting WebRing by contributing. In return we'll allow you to suppress ads while you use WebRing (for $5 you can elect to have ads suppressed permanently) AND use the contribution credit to promote your Site(s) (or Ring if you manage one) throughout the WebRing system. In addition to no ads you'll find that your pages load almost twice as fast! Read more here: Eliminating Ads

Are you a first time WebRing user? If so, you might consider joining My First WebRing as a means of getting experience. The Ring is designed for beginners, run by an expert, and offers advice and guidance on how to effectively manage a Site or a Ring. You should also browse the WebRing forum. There you can find advice, ask questions, even answer some!

Best wishes,
The WebRing Team

ps - Looking for a place to start your own website, or looking to move from your current host? WebRing has negotiated a fantastic partnership with SimpleNet, for website hosting and co-location facility in southern California. They were a webhosting pioneer and continue to provide cutting edge service, with a real emphasis on customer service - a rare offering these days. In exchange for helping to promote their service with our users SimpleNet is housing our servers in their data center. This means improved bandwidth and 24/7 support, backup power, and redundant connectivity to the Internet. We are also several hops closer to most users now.

If you want to find out more about how WebRing is supported, and what some of our plans and goals are, then read here:

WebRing Community or, What is WebRing?

WebRing is a community and we are doing our best to keep it that way. We feel that the best way to grow and support the community is to work with you, the community, to ensure that your needs and wishes are the topmost priority.

If you value WebRing as we do, and as many others who have already contributed do, and feel you can benefit from an even better system, then we ask for your support. If this does not appeal to you then you should ignore this request. We'll still offer the best service and support whether you contribute or not. That, to us, is what community means. The amount you contribute is up to you. Think of it terms of a magazine subscription perhaps. You can use PayPal by following this link:

PayPal

Or f your prefer you can use: Visa/Mastercard/Amex

By way of saying "Thank you" we'll give you back in promotion credit what you contribute to us: We will credit your account with any contributions and allow you to use that credit to promote your Ring, Site or whatever else you would like to promote throughout the WebRing site. Many of you run commercial sites and already pay to support/host your site. Directly promoting your site and/or business on WebRing's pages is one way to improve the traffic to your Site or Ring. Giving small sites, with limited budgets, an opportunity to advertise on a large site like WebRing is something most large sites won't consider, and can't accomodate.

We believe your promotions will have much greater appeal, at a lower cost, than the mass market banners, popups, popunders, etc. that are used by mainstream advertisers. We'd like to see those mostly eliminated from WebRing, used sparingly to help keep costs down.

To remove your account from WebRing don't email support. Here are instructions:

* Login to your WebRing account. Your account is pbdirect
* Click on the My Rings link at the top of the screen
* Click the Delete Account link on the bottom left portion of the screen. You will only SEE the delete link if you have no Ring memberships. If you do, you must remove yourself from those Rings first.
