How do u guys go about keyword research? Once you find a word that you will construct a page around, how long does it take to show up in google.
Lately it is taking me on average 1 week to get my new targeted pages that Im creating from keyword research to get to the top 5 in google. I wish I knew what I know now about SEO about 6 months ago I could be getting some massive organic traffic.
I wish I could show you the keywords that I am getting hits to my site from, they are all highly targeted poker keywords and they are all plain weird. I like finding weird poker keywords or just ones people aren't thinking of yet that say get 100-300 searches in overture per month.
The next step is to go to google and find out if these keywords have been spotted yet. The most common answer is yes, but almost always with these weirder keywords the top 5 spot is easily achievable within a week. There is usually terribly optimized pages at the top with no relative info in their meta tags, however, are on a high PR page and mention this keyword a couple times. Once in a while you will see Poker-babes or playwinningpoker at the top, b/c they are obviously up on their keyword research.
I think I am getting really good at picking keywords and then putting myself in the top 5 for that keyword within a week. I have certain methods I have been perfecting and they are not even in full gear yet. I have chosen 200 keywords and will now write a page each for them, do my tricks, and then see if I can bring organic traffic to 180 or so out of those 200 new pages. I will consider that a success. Then it will be back to the drawing board researching keywords, which I find challenging and the most interesting part of the whole processs.
