You're right, I've never had a dedicated server myself. I'm
assuming, which I shouldn't be, that the default IP for websites on a dedicated server are all the same. With this in mind, I was suggesting that it may be possible to get a dedicated server, change the IP of each website, and have the same positive effect as it would be to have your websites on shared hosting accounts. I definately understand that you can have a unique IP for each site on shared hosting, but just wasn't sure about if you could on a dedicated server.
