subdomain or new domain?

I speak and understand basic french and spanish, I thought that I would use these skills to make similar versions of my website, with a different design. I have been thinking about doing this for a long time but it's obvious that under the current circumstances that that time has come.
Although I have been reasearching and have found some good domain names, I dont want to start from scrach in the sandbox ect.
what would be the best option for me?
1. start a new site, new domain ect
2. make a subdomain of pokerbonusdirect in that language
3. forget about it its not worth the bother, mostly everyone who plays online poker, searches in english
4. get the new domain and perminantly redirect it to the subdomain on pokerbonusdirect

Depends on what your definition of "basic" is. If you are just conversational, you can do ok with directions ordering off of menus, reading signs, than I wouldn't recommend it, because you will inevitably make grammar and spelling mistakes which will reflect poorly on the site.

However, If your language skills are more advanced, and you can read, write, without making spelling, grammar, syntax types of errors, than it wouldn't be a bad idea. The other consideration is that poker/casino types of web sites are probably going to have a lot of words and variations/slang which wouldn't easily be known to a non-native speaker.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of sub.domains. I think it would be better to have pokerbonusdirect.com/francais/articles.html ,etc as opposed to francais.pokerbonusdirect.com , but there is some debate as to which is really better.

Dont do either... do /fr/ or /es/

subdomains are treated as "seperate" from your website.

that's correct about specifying your language in the head, though i would suggest using the country codes as subdomains, ie: fr.domain.com

i suggest that because it's the next best thing to using a country-specific domain extension, ie: domain.fr

in addition, if i were doing the work in this case, i would place two separate paragraphs (or possibly spans) close to the H1 for that page/content with a small sentence and link to the translated versions. those two paragraphs (or possibly spans) would need their language specified and the sentence in each should be in the language the sentence/link is linking to.

i can provide a simple example if this doesn't make sense.
