Default SEO tags/keywords

Im just working on a new blog and after installing the "all in one seo package" i have a question.

I have only used the features of this addon on so far, and have thought that then i wouldent need to add tags!

Is this wrong, or is tags the same as keywords?

Imagine tags as the index of a book. When you write a post about Chris Moneymaker winning the WSOP, you may have tags like; Chris Moneymaker, WSOP, World Series of Poker, poker tournament, No Limit Texas Hold'em, noob, donkey, luckbox, etc etc

Tags are just another (potentially) helpful way for visitors to find what they are interested in.

You can (and should) use keywords as tags when it makes sense for your visitors.

Just FYI, but the <Meta="keywords"> tag is virtually useless for helping you rank better. Most search engines ignore the information due to people using it for keyword stuffing. Personally, I've wondered why All-in-one-SEO continues to include it.

Tags appear on your site and with the rel="tag" attribute. Sites like Technorati surf blogs to find the rel="tag" links to index the information and help searchers find what they're looking for.

For a better explanation check out this article:

Lorelle also has some other great articles about utilizing tags that you may want to look for.
