Beginners might find dealing with templates a bit hard to get that exact look and layout and I wouldn't suggest it if you're not going to have regularly updated content

Read the custom fields guide to make it as good as a custom coded cms

I am a big fan of Wordpress. It is all I use anymore. It is powerful software, and can be adapted to many uses. I even make small static sites out of wordpress, then in the future they will be easy to expand if I chose.

I think wordpress is fairly simple to use. Of course it depends on your experience. To get the most out of wordpress and use all the best features for your project requires some.

I have started working with it 1 year and a half ago, when I started my personal blog. I was a tad put off by the templating system since I am mainly interested in skinning forums and wasn't too familiar with WP. After few hours of some very bad language and nerves i was stubborn enough to get its logic. And it is very logical.

I think this would be the main issue, a con if you like me to say this. Many "pros" come after: easy to install, plugins are countless and easy to make functional, the design (once you get its idea) is simple and straightforward, it's amazingly good for SEO purposes and very very easy to manage.

I am thinking of converting other article sites in WP.

Wordpress is excellent, it is the most mature blogging tool out there and has a thriving community around it. There are loads of free themes and plugins that you can use to customize your site with very little difficulty.

I used to use blogger exclusively. I switched to wordpress and can't figure out how the hell i got by without it. There's far more widgets and plug-ins available in wordpress, which allows for greater flexibility i.m.o.

Additionally, the built in tagging and category system on wordpress, i believe, helps out with SEO. Last I checked, I had to manually build and add a tagging and catigory system.

I also have to tip my had to Wordpress as a really versatile website building method. I really haven't found a better way to quickly setup a reasonably powerful content management system for a variety of small to medium sized website designs.

I don't think anyone had any cons yet in this thread. . I am impressed with WP and think it's a great tool to run a website. I have found it sometimes to be a bit buggy with some of the plug-ins from time to time, but it has been few and far between. Overall I recommend it.

Wordpress is great seo-wise, I wish I could say the same for many of the templates though... The title tags are all wrong. I just had to go and tweak all my "h tags" to make them a bit more search friendly.
