OK Tom well don`t say you didn`t ask for it

I`m not crazy about having the main focus of your site, the affiliate revenue, put across as ``sponsors.`` This isn`t the sponsors it`s actually the main stuff and the rest is the filler Just as a comparison, I tell people that I don`t allow advertising and each banner and recommendation are my hand picked selections Actually this is true as I really don`t allow advertising and they really are my hand picked selections although I`m thinking of my own benefit here as well as theirs

Hopefully these linked ``sponsors`` are your own sites otherwise you`re sending away the meat of your traffic elsewhere

If these are link trades, any of them in fact, I`d wait until you can get equal PR back and right now you don`t have any so it`s way too early in the game to have this stuff there. If they are your own sites well you`re a bigger player than I thought and here`s a bow

I see you have some reviews but they are out of the way and I`d at least want to have a link to the main review page in the first paragraph. Something like ``in addition to all this great live action our visitors also love to play poker online and go here to check out our reviews of the best UK friendly poker rooms...``

I`m not sure your banner there is the best use of that real estate as we call it on this side of the pond An internal one wouldn`t be bad at all and that`s what I would put here but something with a little better call to action and a link would be cool as well

That`s enough for you to chew on for now mate and I actually really like your site by the way but there`s always more stuff to do

My Pr Ranking has completely dropped out of bed, it was on a pr3 then it dropped to a pr2... then i upgraded the hosting and over night it just vanished :-(

Im not to worried about it though, that's why i have got other links there. The wording under the 'our sponsors' are paid links with there own wording. I didn't want my user to think that's what i do. No i dont own these sites lol

Actually my main focus of the website is finding live poker in my area. I still earn more through a rev share plan as i did selling links. this was just a added bonus... untill i lost my pr. I guess as this is my first site, i got a bit greedy with selling links and google caught with my pants around my ankles but i live and learn. So 'our sponsors' they have paid to be there is that not sponsors? my only rev share with through william hill.

Putting "our sponsors" there isn't a great idea period but especially if you're selling links. They might be sponsors or whatever but you don't want to call them that It's not worth it to sell links though as you know now.

I don't see your link on their home page for these home page "sponsors" of yours so either they took them down or you're still selling them. Once they find out what happened to your PR they may not want to be there anyway, but I'd strongly suggest cutting all our out links right now and then starting over from scratch. You're going to have to rebuild your PR of course but the good news is you still rank #1 for Suffolk Poker. I'm not sure what other KW's you're going after but if there are some then higher PR would be good

How long ago did this upgrade thing happen? There's a right way and a wrong way to do this and the wrong way has your site down for a time. I switched a few months ago and didn't miss a beat and the transition was seamless which is what you want. For reasons unknown though switching hosting sometimes puts the whammy on you even though you do everything right. That might be part of it actually.

Man the posts have really dropped off on this forum lately. It seems that the 3 musketeers from Joe's new project, you, I, and Joe, have quite a high percentage of the new posts on here now

Well that answers my comment about the navigation links I guess most website keeps the "contact us" link in the footer.

As you said, your website is dedicate for live tournaments in a specific area. So i guess people might be interested in "sorting" by date, not the location itself. It's not like they have to travel to US from UK and i think some of them might want to choose the tournament date as a priority, so you would only make things easier for them.

Just as an update to what really happened with the PR here, after further review I noticed that the www form had the PR2 there and the non www was PR0 and I gave him some code to integrate the two. Don't know whether he's had a chance to do that yet but it was an easy fix.

thanks for the feedback, but i disagree with you. My main priority would be location then date. I would only travel so far for a average £20 freeze out. Also i wouldn't know how to code that, i think the calendar system is the best way of advertising live (local) tournaments.

Thanks for the feedback though

cheers

Site is looking a lot better and I am seeing you appear in more and more search terms - I run a site for London poker which I don't pay much attention to but have a decent database - Maybe we could do a London Poker Vs Suffolk Poker free roll? A nice bit of healthy competition in the tourney?
